The Senate of the Republic of Poland
It is the upper house of Polish parliament. Firstly, senators were meeting at Warsaw Royal Castle. After November Uprising it was reorganized by Russian authorities, and when Poland became independent in 1918, the parliament had no place for meetings. Officials decided to temporarily adjust buildings of the Alexandrian-Mariinsky Education Institute for Maidens, which was evacuated to Russia. It took only 61 days to make school suitable for senators, however there were few shortcomings. Anyway, the building was almost completely destroyed during II World War, as well as the rest of governmental buildings in that area, so in 1947 the idea of building new parliamentary complex was created. In new building, there was no room for Senate, as in People's Republic of Poland there was no such thing as a Senate. When it was elected in Republic of Poland in 1989, it was meeting alternately wit the Sejm (the lower house), and in 1991 a reconstruction was completed and ever since, Senators have their own pavilion to hold their meetings. Warsaw Stock Exchange
Even though it has a long history of existence, it's recent history starts when communist regime in Poland have fallen in 1989 – only then it could be reestablished. Much needed experience and financial aid was provided by France and on the first trading day only five stocks were listed Seven brokerages took part in the trading, and there were 112 buy and sell orders, with a turnover of only 1,990 złotys. In the years 1991–2000, the stock exchange was located in the building which during the previous, and then recent, communist years had been the seat of the Central Committee of the ruling Polish Communist Party, which seems a bit ironic now. Those were years of fast and sometimes wild development of capitalism in Poland and now WSE is perceived as well established on the European market. Along the way, Warsaw Stock Exchange has changed its house and moved to Exchange Centre located in very prestigious area. Official website: http://www.gpw.pl/root_en
