Detailed WNR2012 schedule coming soon! What will be negotiated during the WNR2012?
All WNR2012 teams will take part in at least three negotiation rounds, which are called qualifying rounds. After each round the participants will be granted points according to their final negotiation result. Points are an integral part of each case study and help us to select two best WNR2012 teams after three rounds. We do not evaluate the quality of negotiations in qualifying rounds, because it is not possible to do it equally fair. The teams will be ranked according to the number of points obtained throughout the competition. We do however evaluate the quality of negotiations in the final round - by adding some additional points from jury for the quality of negotiations.
How do the negotiation rounds look like?
Each round looks exactly the same. Namely, after a short introduction to the case study situation (approx. 10 minutes) the teams are provided with the case study before each round. Then they have approximately 10 minutes to read the case study. Afterwards, approx. 40 minutes (depending on the case study) for preparation for negotiations. After reading the case study teams are asked to follow the buddy to the negotiation rooms where the negotiations take place (approx. 1 h for each case study). After the successful negotiations the authors of the case studies and negotiation experts sumarise shortly the results and we will have a short discussion about the case study itself and the strategies, solutions and final results.
Each case study will be different. We will have two or three parties negotiations, in teams or individually. The case studies are rather business oriented (mergers&asquisitions, trade negotiations, business mediation)
What are the costs of participating in WNR2012?
The admission to WNR2012 is free of charge. Moreover, we will cover the cost of accommodation, food & beverages and additional attractions for three members of each team. So you do not have to worry about these things. We will not cover your travel expenses (to and from Warsaw). Nor will we cover the expenses of any other person accompanying your team. You may try to negotiate with your universities some kind of financial support. We know that several teams participating in WNR2011 received that kind of help from their universities.
